The Builders Supply Company has been successfully established for over 75 years and today is the fastest growing Independent Builders Merchant in South Lakeland.  We remain a friendly, family run business with many loyal and long serving staff.

The Company was first established in 1933 on Ann Street in Kendal, with a Bathroom Showroom opening in 1947.

The Company was bought by the Hill family in January 2000.  All the staff stayed with the Company and many have now been employed for over 20 years.

In January 2004 a second branch was opened in Barrow-in-Furness, Builders Supply Barrow (BSB).  The friendly attitude and great service offered by the company soon helped establish it as the leading Builders Merchant in Barrow.

Meanwhile business at Kendal grew substantially and it soon became apparent that we would need to move to larger premises in order to satisfy the needs of our customers and to provide a better working environment for our staff.

We eventually settled on a former car showroom and workshop on the Mintsfeet Industrial Estate and moved over Easter in 2007.  We have a brand new showroom with excellent displays of bathrooms, showers and tiles, and a large self selection and DIY showroom serving both trade and retail customers.

Further expansion in 2009 has seen the opening of two new branches, one in Ulverston and one in Grange-over-Sands.

The new BSU – Builders Supply Ulverston – premises include an excellent bathroom, shower and tile showroom, trade counter, plumbing and heating department and heavy materials yard stocking a wide range of timber and landscaping products.

BSG – Builders Supply Grange – continues in the same tradition, a local independent Builders Merchant with friendly, knowledgeable staff, that pride themselves on offering a first class service to all its customers.

These four excellent locations will allow the Builders Supply Company to look after and service the building trade and the public throughout the South Lakes and the Furness Peninsula.
